#BlackBizScope: Highlighting Black Owned Businesses on Periscope

If you’re in business, then you have to know that the way we market to our customers and clients online changes frequently. Social media platforms are forever changing, and new ones are always emerging. So unless you’ve been hiding under a rock (or children), you have heard the big buzz about Periscope which is the new live streaming social media platform.

Be warned: it can get addictive (even to the normally introverted person like myself). What I love about it is the ability to connect with people from around the world, and have an actual conversation. I can talk about a topic and get live reactions, comments, shares, input, etc right then and there. I’ve shared lots of “hot topic” scopes, and I’ll be adding a page on here just for my Periscope broadcasts. But I encourage you to download the free app, follow me and watch how great this platform can be.

I have gotten new clients, and new speaking opportunities in the few short weeks that I have been active on Periscope. It’s amazing to watch people join me from all.over.the.world….Phillippines, Venezuela, London, and the list goes on from across the country. And I’m even more excited to parter with two fabulous women and friends of mine, Pamela Booker of Koils by Nature (catch my interview with her here) and Adeea Rogers of Trendy Socialite, to bring Black Biz Scope.

Black Biz Scope is a community based initiative that happens each and every Friday on Periscope, and was created to support and build community for black owned businesses and service providers. We will give black businesses the opportunity to share their business via live broadcasts on Periscope, where we will invite our followers, and community. The goal is to get more dollars to stay within the black community.

So if you’ve been asking how your business can benefit from Periscope, check out this article we were featured in recently from Atlanta Black Star. Then, be sure to follow @BlackBizScope on Periscope, Twitter and Instagram, and follow the hashtag #blackbizscope. If you’re interested in being featured during our live broadcasts, simply email us at: join@blackbizscope.com. Each business receives 5-7 minutes to share their story and their business, before passing it on to the next person (#passthescope).

Here is today’s line-up of business owners (this is week three), and first up, is yours truly! I hope you’ll join us and then invite your friends and family, so they can do the same 🙂 Check out these Black owned businesses on Periscope every Friday at 10am EST, 6pm-8pm EST.

Have you started using Periscope for business yet?

This is such an awesome initiative Christine. I will admit that I had to turn off my Periscope notifications because they were becoming too much lol. I need to be more active on there so I will try to schedule some time to support this initiative.

Girl, say no more Vashti cause I completely agree. I always keep my notifications turned off because it was definitely way too distracting. But yes, we’d love to have you support as well as featured on Black Biz Scope! 🙂
