Making Your Mom-cation a Success This Weekend

Mom-cation, mom getaway

We’ve previously discussed family weekend getaways here on the blog. However, today it’s all about you mom. Yes – that’s right, you’re well deserving of a mom-cation. If you’ve never been on one, you might think that it’s impossible to leave your precious little ones 8 hours, much less 24 or 48 hours. I would know, cause I’ve never been on one, lol. So this post is just as much for me as it is for you. Here are 3 tips to making your mom-cation not just possible, but a success.

Lists, lists, and more lists

To make it a true getaway, you want to try and limit phone calls to emergencies. With the purpose being able to unwind, relax, and recharge; phone calls asking where Sarah’s ballet dress is only begin to cause stress and have you second guessing your mom-cation. Make it as easy as possible for whoever will be running your usual errands. To-do lists, shopping lists, and instruction lists; have them all. Whether they get used or not doesn’t matter. Kind of like insurance, good to have – hope you’ll never need it.

Spoil Yourself

This isn’t about a dollar figure, but only a mom can fully appreciate buying her favorite ice cream and not having to share it – with ANYONE. I’m serious – it’s a treat. Get that massage, go to the spa, the lake, or the wine country. Wherever and whatever is your serenity. This is your moment to be selfish. After all, it’s “only” for about 24 hours, so no guilt or shame allowed.

Go with the flow

You might feel tempted to try and do as much as possible to maximize your mom-cation, but you’d be surprised what even staying in your hotel room, ordering room service, and doing absolutely nothing can do. You’re on the go all the time, so perhaps hitting the breaks is just what you need. And don’t let anyone make you think you “wasted” your time. It’s YOUR time and you’re free to spend it exactly how you please.

Have a wonderful weekend!
