Be True to You: Confessions of a SAHM

Confessions of a SAHM

I’ve been a stay-at-home-mom (SAHM) for over 4 years now. It wasn’t the plan when I originally went on mat leave, but the circumstances kind of just made it logical/forced me to, lol. Prior to staying home, I’ve always been on the go career wise. I hustled one way or another to make a dollar cause that’s just what I did.

LIFE AS A SAHM

Naturally, for me, I eventually got bored sitting at home, doing what I felt was “nothing”. SAHM, don’t come for me, lol. I obviously know first hand what we do is far from nothing. However because I’m used to the corporate grind, these new circumstances weren’t necessarily what I was looking for.

It was during this time that I discovered both YouTube vlogging and of course blogs. Immersing myself on these two platforms not only cured my boredom but it also enticed me to give both a go. The hustler in me of course also wanted to make a dollar off this new venture. And there you have it, I started blogging to make money.

LIFE AS A BLOGGER

Now if you ask any blogger/YouTuber who makes money off what they do, they’ll tell you that rule number one is, don’t start to make money! Percentage-wise, only a few get paid real money, and it usually takes a while to get there. So if you don’t LOVE your blogging/vlogging subject matter, good luck hanging in there for the long haul.

LIFE AS ME

With that said, I’ve come to love writing. However, I think my days as a SAHM are done. I’ll always blog no doubt. But it’s time to engage in the rat race, which I actually don’t hate. Truth be told, I found the online rat race harder and prefer to continue my participation purely out of pleasure. I know a bunch of moms might call me crazy, but another truth I learned from an online mentor is, EVERYONE isn’t called to be an online entrepreneur. It happens to be the in thing right now, and although I DO believe I am called to be an entrepreneur, it may not unfold like it did for others. And guess what, that’s OK.

So my message for you today is, do you boo. It might not be the popular choice, but as long as it’s the right choice for YOU, you’ll be just fine.

Stay Blessed!
