A High Protein Ice Cream Recipe That Your Family Will Love

Healthy protein ice cream recipe

If your family is anything like mine, then regular ice cream runs are a normal part of summer. However, regular ice cream runs can make it harder to fit into your clothes as the weeks go by. If your children are eating other sweets, regular ice cream runs can also negatively affect their behavior and appetites.

Most of us want to raise healthy kids who have a healthy relationship with food. This requires modeling and teaching them healthy eating behaviors from the start. We have to find a balance between being super restrictive and just going with the flow. If we don’t, we aren’t setting them up to have healthy bodies and a healthy relationship with food.

One way to find a healthy balance with sweet foods is to make healthier alternatives. Having healthier alternatives to traditional junk food allows you to say yes more often without negatively affecting their health. It also gives us a chance to teach them about food in a fun way. The bonus is that sometimes, your children will start to prefer the healthier alternatives – especially since they can help you make them.

So, in the name of helping you have a healthy alternative to an ice cream run if your kids have already had plenty of sweets that day, here is a high protein ice cream recipe to try.

Ingredients:

  • 2 scoops of Vanilla Isalean
  • ½ cup frozen cherries
  • 1T unsweetened Almond Milk

Ingredients listed are per person. Multiply the ingredients by the total number of people who are having ice cream to make more.

 Directions:

  1. Place the milk, Isalean, and cherries in a blender – in that order.
  2. Blend on high power.
  3. As needed, shake the blender and restart. If the blender gets stuck, add 1T more of milk to get things moving again.
  4. Blend until you have a thick, ice cream consistency.

Don’t be afraid to play around with different ingredients to customize the ice cream for your family. Here’s a similar recipe with different ingredients. The general rule is to make sure that you only use enough liquid to keep the blender for getting stuck. Everything else should be protein powder, fruit, or ice.
