3 Reasons to visit ICE! Featuring Christmas Around the World at Gaylord National #BlueParka

I recently had the pleasure of taking my family to experience ICE! at Gaylord National featuring Christmas Around the World. I was invited to attend as part of a media event, and we had a blast! If you’ve never been to ICE! then you need to make plans to visit this holiday season.

While this was not our first visit to ICE! we got to experience a new excitement and joy in Christmas Around the World.

We started off with an amazing dinner at the Pienza market where the meals served aligned with the theme with various dishes and treats from around the world.

The food was absolutely yummy and delicious. I had shrimp, crab legs, salmon, rice and pasta. I also had several desserts (check out my Snapchat stories video below).

We also had some special visitors to come and greet us at dinner. I don’t know if my kids were more excited than me, but we loved seeing Snoopy and Charlie Brown.

What is ICE?

I’m glad you asked! ICE! is a magical winter wonderland that will take you on a journey through TWO  MILLION pounds of hand-carved ice sculptures and two-story-tall ice slides. This year’s journey will take you around the world in a cool nine degrees inside the ice tent.

Is it cold? Absolutely! Is it manageable? Of course, as long as you dress appropriately (regardless of outside weather).

Here is a video of my Snapchat stories from our evening:

What to wear

I made sure to put on layers of long johns and long sleeved tops/sweaters on my kids. They also had on their own coats and gloves in addition to the blue parkas you receive upon entering the tent (follow #BlueParka on social media for some fun pics).

You and your family should definitely plan on wearing hats, scarves and gloves. If you really want to experience everything inside that ICE! has to offer, you want to do it as comfortably as possible. So even if it’s nice weather outside, the temps inside remain 9 degrees. You can thank me later.
