David Banks on How to Help African American Boys Soar

When I wrote the article on my thoughts about what was going on in Ferguson and other areas, I’ve been looking into different avenues I can take to make and be the change that I want to see in the world. So I am thrilled that David Banks, author of SOAR, and founder of The Eagle Academy Foundation will be leading a discussion in DC on how to help African American boys soar. Join us tomorrow evening at 7pm at the DC Public Library for this dynamic discussion.

From the DC Public Library:

Join us for in the Great Hall an evening with David Banks, founder of The Eagle Academy Foundation, the nationally acclaimed school for boys of color.

We are looking for collective solutions.

We are looking for answers on how to help our young African American males reach their highest potential, live without fear and how to soar above any circumstance thrown their way.

David Banks, a respected educator who has advised Hillary Clinton and Cory Booker on scholastic issues, presents a plan for teaching the country’s most educationally endangered group—boys.

Result-oriented and clear-eyed about the challenges and the promises of educating boys at risk, Soar is a book that no one who wants to see our young men flourish — from parents and educators to teachers and employers — can afford to miss.

Please RSVP to obtain a free general admission ticket to this event. You may also pre-purchase a copy of David Banks’s book Soar for pickup on the day of the event.

You can also watch this event live online via YouTube and Google+.

This program is made possible thanks to our partnership with The Oracle Group.
