How the ALAS conference changed my life

ALAS Conference changed my life

Never in my life did I think I would be sitting at Steve Harvey’s “Act Like a Success” conference but there I was. Completely overwhelmed and worried that I made a mistake coming to the conference with all these professional businessmen and women. I felt so out of place and was super nervous, but all that anxiety went away the minute I sat in my chair.

For the next three days I networked and met people from all over the country. As they shared their stories and dreams I begin to feel like I’m right where God meant for me to be! From the keynote speakers to the various entrepreneurs I listened to, each left me feeling so inspired. Here are a few reasons my life has changed for the better after attending the ALAS conference.

I can be myself

Each keynote speaker spoke highly of being authentic and transparent. Sometimes it feels like I have to be like other, more successful bloggers, but after this weekend I’ve realized being myself is enough. I believe in my gift enough that I don’t have to dim my light or copy what others are doing.

Invest in my gift

I’ll admit that I was one of those people that thought I can just start blogging and instant success will come. I’ve learned that nothing good ever comes without a price.  One speaker at the conference touched on this subject by saying (this is not verbatim) if you don’t invest in yourself, people will be reluctant to invest in you. Whether it comes from hiring a coach, attending a class, or going to a conference; any type of investment in my gift is getting me one step closer to the success I dream of.

Always be willing to give back

I’ve always thought to myself, what will I do once I reach a good level of success to give back to my community? I know I will definitely want to help others who want to be successful in life by sharing my trials and errors. That’s exactly what the keynote speakers at the ALAS conference did this weekend. Instead of keeping their story of success to themselves, they gave invaluable tips and advice to us that they really didn’t have to share but they decided to pay it forward.

I learned so many great things at the Act Like A Success conference, but those are just a few that have really impacted the way I will approach decisions in my life. Nothing comes without hard work and persistence, and after this wonderful weekend I plan to do just that in order to live the life I dream of living.

Which if the 3 topics (being yourself, investing in yourself, or giving back) do you excel in, or need to work on?
